By now you should have a half completed spreadsheet that we need to complete to zero in on those money keywords. I am going to combine the last two steps into today’s post. To finish the final piece of this part of the MLM marketing puzzle, we need to find out how many PPC clicks/day each keyword gets and the total number of competing sites.
The best tool available to do these both at one shot is called SpyFu. Actually, this tool might be your secret where you can get all of the info for each keyword as long as the circumstances allow.
Otherwise, you can use SpyFu to complete the remaining two pieces of info on your list. The one caveat I would mention here is that if you need to stay in a certain geographic area, you might need SpyFu for your clicks and then use the Oogle Keyword tool to narrow your competing sites.
Now that we have all of our info to start narrowing our list, start by moving the keywords that don’t meet two or more of the criteria to the bottom of your spreadsheet. You can delete them if you want, but just moving them to the bottom will allow you not to duplicate your efforts in a future keyword exercise.
The stonger keywords should remain at the top of your list. At this point, you need to go through each keyword and order them by relevance to your USP. The next things you need to look for are the PPC dollars and the number of competing sites.
By now, you should be getting a good idea for which words are the stronger ones on your list. There is no exact science to picking exact keywords, but using the steps we have discussed in this series will have you several steps ahead of the curve.

Hey Eric,
Knowing how to do a keyword research is vital. Thank you for taking the time to share this information with us. I’ve never used SpyFu before…It kind of sounds like something I would order at a Chinese restaurant.
I will check it out. Thanks a lot!
Josh
Hey Eric, nice to see another quality episode of SEO “goodies”, in particular keyword research.
If people have followed your min-serious there should be no complaints about lack of keywords or shall I say “winning keywords”.
Thanks for the quality information my friend.

What’s up with everyone ending up in my spam box lately? Could it be that everyone realized that linking to their main page was nuts? Maybe. I don’t know jack about keyword research or SEO.
thanks for stopping by my brother from another continent
Eric

Hey Eric,
Great info. Keyword research is the staple of online marketing. You really can’t get started with a good marketing campaign online without this knowledge.
I think this is the hardest thing to get through to people who are new to the internet, but not to marketing.
Your series here has people well on their way to successful online marketing.
