If you have recently joined a network marketing organization, you might find yourself thinking a lot about MLM marketing tactics that can work to build your business. Not only are you looking for ways to sell more products, but you are also looking for ways to recruit more people into your downline to increase your own income in the future.
One of the tactics small business owners are using to get more business is Twitter. Unfortunately, many people are afraid of new technologies and marketing ideas, so they are not using Twitter to the best of their abilities. Some people think of Twitter and other social networks as simply a place to hang out with your friends, check up on old high school acquaintances and maybe post a list of your favorite movies. The reality is that social networking has become the norm as part of an effective marketing plan for successful businesses.
Even large businesses are starting to use Twitter and other social networking platforms to increase their market share. Therefore, it only makes sense that you would include Twitter in your MLM marketing plan. The key is knowing how to use this platform effectively because you can use it in the wrong way and turn people off to your business opportunity.
For example, if the only thing you ever tweet about is the business opportunity, people get very tired of hearing it. They feel like they’re being sold to and they actually shut down to hearing your message. You want to be very mindful that you should post useful information that people want to know about before you start posting about your business opportunity. For example, if you have seen an interesting news story, even if it has nothing to do with your business, post a link to it so that other people can enjoy getting that information. Once they begin to trust that you are there to provide quality information and interact with them on a human level, they will be more open to hearing about your opportunity.
One tip to using Twitter is finding someone within your organization who is successful and following them. See what they are tweeting about and how often they are doing it. Chances are, you will see some very good marketing happening if this person is successful within your organization. Although you don’t want to copy them directly, you can certainly model your social networking marketing ideas after another successful person. Your MLM marketing plan will thank you for it.

Hey Eric,
Most people when they hear the words Social Networking or Twitter they think it’s only a place to socialize. I like how you stated that most big businesses are starting to realize this is a big untapped area.
What does that mean for the online marketers like you and I. I like to say, It’s an open field because majority of the people are not taking the time to learn on how to market using these tools.
Great post!

Josh,
Thanks for stopping by. People really underestimate the power of Twitter right now. I just started really working it and have seen some pretty amazing results. The key is to make sure you are tweeting to the right group of people. I have been getting as much twitter training as I can find.
Thanks,
Eric
Hey Eric – How’s it going?
When I first got started using Twitter I was one of these people that definitely misunderstood it and not using it to my benefit.
Boy did I learn. This post confirms that for me. Good tips!

Well spotted Eric! Twitter is a great tool for business, if it is used correctly.
The way I see it, the more free traffic the better!
Thanks for the post.
Hi Eric,
Nice post on Twitter, man.
I’ve got to admit that I don’t make full use of it because I concentrate on Facebook, but I know there are a lot of people dominating on Twitter.
Good things will come from whatever you focus on — as long as you do it right and this post should help people with that.
Hey Eric,
Twitter was my first social media platform for business. I still use it today, and let me tell ya’. When done right, this is one powerful tool.
Fearing new technologies instead of embracing them is like business suicide. Times change, people change, and businesses have to change.
