5 Habits/ Things Every MLM Marketer Needs To Get Rid Of Right Now

by Eric on April 19, 2010

So, I thought today would be a good day to come up with a list of things that most bloggers are doing (or not) that they should get rid of to help them be more productive.

1. Any of those monthly subscriptions or tools (with return policy) that you don’t use on a daily basis. There is no need to have tools or subscriptions just to have them. If they aren’t an intergral part of your business, nix them.

2. Caring about your blog format being perfect. I talk to people all the time who think they are one social media button away from a flood of traffic. The majority of searchers who come to your site from a search, are coming for your content, not the look of your blog.

3. Lock yourself out of Facebook. And all other social media platforms you spend way to much time on. Personally, I limit myself to no more than 1 hour per day to go to blogs, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc. People are wasting way to much time on these sites for not a lot of return.

4. Checking email constantly. I put this one in for me. I love watching my leads come in and check email probably every hour. I am implementing a twice a day restriction on myself for checking email. The biggest thing I find with checking email so often is that it distracts you from your current tasks.

5. Anything else that keeps you from your main focus, which should be Sales and Conversions. The best looking site in the world won’t bring you a penny if you don’t focus on these two things.

There you have it. Some mlm marketing, time and money savers that will keep your eye on the prize and not waste your most precious asset: TIME. Just doing anything online doesn’t constitute making progress for your business. You need to be very focused and goal oriented in order to get a lot of things done in the shortest amount of time possible.

Did I miss some that are more important? Let me know what they are. This is a shoot from the hip list and I am sure there are more important things I missed.

Hey Eric,

Nice list you put together. All of them are so important. There isn’t one that is more important than the other.

I have to put a limit on my email checking. When you receive leads everyday. It’s so cool to see them coming in. So I have to set a time when I’ll be checking my email box. Maybe 3-4 times in the day.

Thanks for putting this list together!

Chat with you later…

Hey Eric,

You’re so right. We see a lot of people putting in unnecessary time into things that just don’t matter. The one trap I see a lot networkers fall into is the #3 above.

It’s just sad because if they are trying to build a business through the internet, then how do they intend to make any money if they are wasting their time on these sites.

The stance I take is, I make sure in my business to spend the appropriate time on activities that ultimately affect the bottom line.

Hi Eric,

I agree with you, for sure. There are so many distractions out there, so we need to be careful how we spend our time.

Also, I agree not to waste time on making things “look pretty,” but I do think it’s important to consider layout for the sake of optimizing conversions.

For example, placement of the opt in form is HUGE, page links are HUGE, and giving people a chance to connect with you is also important, etc…

Hey Eric,

Some important things to avoid here, it is so easy to lose valuable time on these tasks.

I have to say, checking email constantly is definitely a bad habit I have, but with a blackberry it is way too hard to ignore it. However, I tend to put it on silent when I need to really focus on a task.

Thanks for that.

Hey Derek,
You are right on with those comments. The layout is critical when considering where peoples eyes go on the page. Some people put the opt in where no one ever looks or, even worse, they don’t even have one. Yikes!

Thanks for stopping by,
Eric

Hey Eric,

Those are some excellent points. It’s easy to get sucked into the vortex of social media and suddenly an hour or more has passed.

Email is another time killer. I read somewhere, possibly on a blog post, I’m not sure, but once you stop doing something productive to check your e-mail,then it takes 25 minutes to get refocused on what you were previously doing. Imagine the time wasted with checking e-mail every hour!

Have a great evening!

I had to ban myself from FaceBook too!

It’s way to easy to get distracted with things like that running in the background, when it’s time to work you have to just work!

Great list mate,
Matt

Hey Eric,

These are great tips.
I am able to save a ton of
time utilizing my Blackberry to
check emails, Facebook and
other blogs.
It is a real time saver.

Have a great day,
Tommy

Hey Eric,

I got a lot out of this post. Straight to the point. Checking email constantly is one of my pet problems too. But generally, I’m working on my own time management because as my business grows, it’s not an option.

Take care,
Wayne

Hey Wayne,
Time management is becoming really key in my business. I have so much going on that if I don’t layout my days, I will not get near as much done as I need to.

Thanks for stopping by,
Eric

Eric,

I totally agree. Sales and conversions make you money, not checking emails, not posting comments, not hanging out on Facebook.

Whittling daily activities down to the money making processes should be a priority in our clutter filled lives. Great post, looking forward to seeing you around.

Hey Mark,
Thanks for stopping by. Getting away from the things that don’t move your business forward are key to getting from A to B quicker.
