A Legitimate Home Business, A 2yr Old, and Dog Poop

What can dog poop and 2 year old teach us about finding a legitimate home business? 

A couple of weeks ago I was feeding my 9 month old daughter and watching my son, Hunter, play outside.  Hunter was back and forth across the yard going from his Big Wheel to his Tonka Dump Truck like most 2 year olds will do.  He is walking to another toy and suddenly stops, gets on all fours, and proceeds to lay down flat on his stomach on the ground.  He has his face almost right on the ground and he looks like he is sniffing something.

I got up and yelled out the back door to him, “Hunter, What are You Doing?”  He proceeds to get up and looks right at me and says “Daddy, Poo Poo.” while pointing back at the ground where he was just laying.  Apparently, something about one of our labradors  deposits had peaked his interest.  I yell to him to leave it alone and go back to feeding my daughter.

Five minutes go by and I look back outside and see my son pushing his bright yellow Tonka dump across the yard towards the doggy deposit.  He gets close, backs the truck up and begins to examine the poop again.  By this point, I was sure he was going to load it up in his dump truck with his bare hands.  I got up to stop him and before I got outside he had already left his truck and moved on to another toy.  So what this have to do with a legitimate home business?

Maybe we can take a lesson from my son.  At first, the dog poop had him excited and interested enough to make him go get his dump truck.  After taking a step back and reexamining it, he was able to see if for what it really was: Dog Poop.

Maybe taking a step back after an initial exposure to a home business opportunity and all of the excitement in the events or phone calls you were exposed to will allow you to do some more research and identify it for what it is, dog poop.  Not all home businesses are dog poop, but just make sure you do a thorough investigation and be sure you are getting involved in a legitimate home business.  Oh the lessons that our children can teach us, if we will just observe and listen.
