The Ultimate Dos & Don’ts Of Choosing An Awesome Biz Opp

by Eric on May 7, 2010

You have been scouring the interweb all day trying to find that awesome biz opp that is going to give you the financial freedom and, more importantly, time to do what you want when you want.  However, after your hours of searching, you still don’t know what to do because of the information overload.  With that in mind, here are the the ULTIMATE Dos & Don’ts of choosing an AWESOME Biz Opp.

Let’s take a look at the don’ts first:

Don’t be sucked in by flashy advertising

Don’t make your choice without doing research on the company

Don’t pick a Biz Opp that you don’t believe in

Don’t fall for the get rich quick schemes (no such thing)

Don’t join a Biz Opp as a last ditch financial grasp

Don’t think that the business is easy

Don’t believe everything you read online (you’re being marketed to Right?)

Don’t try to start your biz opp alone without a mentor

Don’t be afraid to ask for help

Don’t give up when faced with adversity

Do I sound like your mother yet (P.S. Happy Mothers Day to all the moms)?

Do narrow your biz choices to 3 and then research them

Do ask all the right questions about payplan, training, etc.

Do be ready to work (Yes, you actually have to work)

Do set weekly, monthly, and yearly GOALS as soon as you start

Do create a daily method of operation to maximize effectiveness of your         available time

Do get your mind ready for success and success you haven’t had yet (AKA     failure)

Do understand that no one became a superstar overnight

Do align yourself with like minded people (MUY IMPORTANTE)

Do put together your dream board and have it where you will see it daily

We’re probably missing some important Dos and Don’ts off of the Ultimate list.  What are they?  What would you add to this list to make it more complete?

Better yet, if you were talking to a potential biz opp partner, what would you say to them or what kind of checklist would you give them?  Personally, this list is too long for me, because I don’t want to overwhelm people at first, but wanted to get all of them out there I could think of.

By the way, I prefer high end Direct Sales businesses as my drink of choice, in case you were wondering.

What are your Biz Opp dos & don’ts?

Hey Eric,

One that most forget…Do know that you are starting a business! Therefore, you have to treat it like a business. Not like a job…

Have a great weekend…

Hey Eric,

Some wise words there. I think the one that standed out the most to me is:

“Do understand that no one became a superstar overnight”

Too many people get sucked in by hype!

Thanks for this post my friend.

How’s it going Eric?

I liked this do’s and don’ts list. It’s the structure a good home business owner needs before they get involved in the industry and also after they’ve been in it for a while.

Have a great weekend.

Hi Eric,

Wow… Anybody who’s considering starting their own home based business NEEDS to see this post – especially the DON’TS. Some less ethically people have mastered the art of taking advantage of the uninitiated or the desperate with flashy ads and promise of lots with no work.

Be careful. It’s a minefield out there.

Thanks for this timely post,
Wayne

This is a great service for people looking to start a home business, Eric.

I can see how it would be easy to get overwhelmed by all the noise out there.

I’m glad you’re tellin’ it like it is!

Great points Eric,

People really need to do their homework before diving in, and completely understand what they are getting into.

Thanks,
Matt
